Provincial Highlights
12 days/11 nights

Days 1 & 2

Your first two nights will be spent in Halifax: a port city with the world's second largest natural harbour. Established in 1749, Halifax offers a unique blend of old and new. You'll spend ages discovering the city's histories: it's shipping history, and the city's tragedies  which have affected the city. Look through the  Maritime Museum and learn about the Halifax Explosion and see articles from the Titanic -- perhaps even visit the gravesite of many individuals who lost their lives aboard the Titanic. Citadel Hill and discover the part Halifax took in the World Wars. Perhaps you'd prefer to submerse yourself in the new: on offer is the city's art gallery, theatres, casino, many world class restaurants, various city tours, not to mention the many festivals and events which take place in the city each year.

Day 3

Today you will depart the city travelling around the Bedford Basin to the highway and on to Wolfville. En route are several worthy stops, including Grand Pre, site of the famous Acadian deportation, where the legend of Evangeline will unfold. We also recommend you stop at the Grad Pre Winery to discover why they have been granted awards for their wines.

Day 4 Annapolis Royal- Explore the Centuries a no travel day. This is a small town with lots on offer, steeped in history, with lots of historic sites on offer including Canada's oldest wooden house and Fort Anne a British Field Officers Quarters set in a beautiful park overlooking the Annapolis Basin and Port Royal, a reconstruction of a French fur trading post that dates back to 1605.

If history is not your main interest there is a saltwater tidal generating power plant which harnesses the might of the tides in The Bay of Fundy or the exquisite Historic Gardens. Its rose gardens and Acadian Gardens and cottage are an absolute delight with 10 acres to explore and restaurant on site there is a variety of gardens  to explore.

You might also consider the famous ghost tour around the town at night guided by the towns historian, it attracts people from far and wide.

Days 5 & 6 Annapolis Royal to Lunenburg 2.5 hours driving time. We suggest you allow enough time to stop along the way at Kejimkujik National Park to enjoy a walk or its natural beauty, maybe a canoe ride or relax on a beach. Lunenburg is an absolute delight: its colourful wooden buildings line the waterfront and narrow streets beyond. Explore the town's rich seafaring history and uncover some of the maritime mysteries to be found in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is plenty to do, with golf, beaches and fishing villages nearby, as well as the many local craft shops and fine restaurants.
Day 7 Today you will leave Lunenburg and follow the Lighthouse Route through Mahone Bay, with it's many craft shops and the famous Three Churches along the waterfront, and Peggy's Cove where the country's most famous lighthouse stands on the granite boulders smoothed by the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. You will pass through Halifax and continue up the Eastern Shore to Musquodoboit, where you will spend the night.
Day 8 Driving up the Eastern Shore you should be sure to keep your camera on the ready: a lesser known tourist drive, but an absolute delight to visit with fantastic scenery quite different from what you have already seen on the South Shore. Stop at Sherbrooke Village, a restored gold mine, and then continue up to Cape Breton Island and spend the night in Mabou: there is a good chance you can catch some live music or perhaps attend a Ceilidh.
Days 9 & 10 Depart for one of the world's top-rated scenic drives: Cape Breton's Cabot Trail. You will appreciate why Alexander Graham Bell once said: "I have travelled the Globe. I have seen the Rockies, the Andes, the Scottish Highlands, and for simple beauty Cape Breton outrivals them all." Stop and hike some of the many trails, take a whale watching tour where you are guaranteed to spot whales. It feels like time is standing still while you relax and enjoy the splendor that surrounds you. Your last day in Cape Breton can be spent visiting Bell's museum; exploring the Fortress of Louisburg; enjoying a round of golf at one of the Island's world class golf courses -- the choice is yours, and there are many options to choose from!
Day 11 Allow at least four hours for your journey back to Halifax and re-live the many amazing sites you have seen and experienced on your tour. You will see for yourself why Nova Scotia is so quickly becoming such a popular holiday destination.
