Since
2003 it has been law in Nova Scotia that ALL tour operators in Nova Scotia
be licensed by the NSPURB. Among other things, licensed tour
companies carry a required standard of insurance, undergoes six-monthly
safety inspections, a full medical kit and other emergency items and that
the vehicle has a clearly marked emergency exit. It's easy to tell if your
tour company is licensed: a Commercial Plate must be prominently displayed
on the front of the vehicle, and sign-writing (name of company, address
& phone numbers) must appear on at least two sides of the vehicle.
There are no exceptions to this law! For your own peace of mind always
ensure you request your tour driver's PURB Licence Number to ensure you
are travelling with a legal tour company within Nova Scotia
