Day 1 |
Arrive and settle into your Halifax Hotel. A city with a unique blend of historic charm combined with modern day facilities you can make this a relaxing stop or as vibrant as you wish. A city very proud of its selection of fine dining, pubs where you can experience maritime entertainment, dinner theatres, theatres, a casino and great shopping. All within a few city blocks. |
| Day 2 | Discover the city's history and waterfront, where you will find a variety of museums and historic sights significant to Canada, where tragic events in history have shaped this nation. Visit the Citadel sitting on a hill overlooking the city or take one of the tours the city has to offer. Stroll through the Public Gardens or Point Pleasant Park, relax in a Sidewalk Cafe, or play Golf at one of the highly rated Golf Courses nearby. |
| Day 3 | Depart Halifax for Digby. En route you will pass Grand Pre: a National Historic Site commemorating the Acadian people and their deportation from here, as well as the legend of Evangeline. Drive over North Mountain to Halls Harbour, a hamlet on the Bay of Fundy, where you will see the impact of the world's highest tides. Pass through Kentville to Annapolis Royal and explore its many attractions. Continue to the Classic Manner of The Pines Resort on the hill above Digby and the Annapolis Basin. The Pines Resort is one of this Province's Signature Resorts, and you will be well received at this fine establishment with its world class facilities and golf course. Drive time 2.5 hours |
| Day 4 | You might decide to golf this morning, or perhaps enjoy some more of what Annapolis Royal has to offer (we will provide you with a list of attractions and activities), or you may even decide to canoe or hike in Kejimkujik National Park before continuing on your journey through the centre of the Province to the Oak Island Resort & Spa, overlooking the waters of Mahone Bay, where you will stay for the next two nights. Driving time is 2 hours, although you should allow extra time for side trips and stops. |
| Day 5 | With boat tours available here, golf courses and famous towns like Chester, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg only a short drive away, you will have no trouble filling your time. Perhaps a visit to some of the local crafters or folk art shops. There are spa treatments on site; kayaks and bicycles are available for your use; beaches are a stone's throw away - you can even arrange for a boat to leave you on an island for the day to truly enjoy some peace and quiet. |
| Day 6 | Today you will continue along the Lighthouse Route, passing through fishing villages, coves and beaches to Peggy's Cove where our most famous lighthouse is sitting on the granite boulders of St. Margaret's Bay. Pass through Halifax and connect with the Marine Drive (a lesser known tourist trail with amazing vistas) to the nature lovers' resort: Liscombe Lodge. This tranquil river setting is a great place to unwind and enjoy some nature trails, bird watch, fish or swim. (Driving time is approximately 4.5 hours) |
| Day 7 | Depart for Cape Breton. You should allow time to stop at Sherbrooke Village, a former lumber and shipbuilding community. It looks as it did 100 years ago, before the gold rush. Proceed through to Antigonish and join the Trans-Canada Highway across the Canso Causeway to Cape Breton. Take a break in Baddeck and appreciate why Alexander Graham Bell moved here, and perhaps visit his museum. Continue to Ingonish, where the awesome Keltic Lodge, high on the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean awaits you. This breathtaking resort borders on the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, and is host to Canada's number 1 rated golf course. Watch the eagles soaring overhead and the osprey's dive for their meal. You will be kept busy here for the next two nights. (Drive time is approximately 4.5 hours) |
| Day 8 | Today you will drive the Cabot Trail, play golf, enjoy the beach, hike a trail, join a whale watching tour, go birding or sea kayaking. The day is yours, and the adventures are endless. |
| Day 9 | Allow about 6 hours for the drive back to Halifax, mulling over the past week's fabulous food, unbelievable scenery and pristine resorts. |
| Day 10 | We are sure you will depart with fond memories, great photos, with desires to return to see us again soon we hope- have a safe journey. |
